2019 Greetings from Francine’s Horticultural Services!
Greetings and Happy New Year!
It’s hard to imagine gardening on a bitter cold day like today but your favorite horticulturist is already busy looking at plant lists and seed catalogs, making orders for the coming spring. This is also the best time of year for pruning trees and shrubs while they are dormant. From now until the spring thaw I will be scheduling work days for pruning all woody shrubs and small trees (up to 20’ high); including thinning or rejuvenation pruning, hard pruning to the ground, and reshaping of oversized evergreens, etc. As long as there isn’t over a foot of snow on the ground I’ll be bundled up and out working. Let me know if you are in need of pruning services and feel free to refer me to friends. I’ll take 10% off your next bill for any referrals resulting in a new client.
Even if you don’t need pruning work done this is a great time to start discussing and planning any design or planting changes you desire for 2019. You can also schedule early spring cleanup now, to be started as soon snow melts and soil starts to thaw. This includes cutting back any remaining plants from last season, raking leaf litter and debris out of beds, edging, mulching, digging and dividing perennials, pest management, etc. As always, it’s my goal to help you achieve the gardens of your dreams and take the stress out of garden maintenance and planting decisions.
Thank you all for a successful 2018 and helping me to grow my small business in Broome and Tompkins counties! I’m looking forward to a busy and colorful 2019!!
